  1. thank you, sven! I took the picture a few days ago on the coast of Vistula river. I took some more pictures, perhaps I will use them in a similar way :)

  2. Where is Vistula river? I never looked at any river that way. It seems like it is flowing from heaven to hell. And back again. Great.

  3. Die Weichsel, the biggest river in Poland. it goes through Cracow, Warsaw, Gdańsk and other places. the picture was taken in a lovely town, famous for painters, Kazimierz Dolny.

I also paint Kazimierz from time to time. the paintings with architecture show the town:

  4. Shame on me - I did not know that the right name for Weichsel river is Vistula. Thank you for telling me.

  5. it's ok, blaumann. I think that names of rivers in different languages are sometimes very interesting. once when I was in Hamburg, I wrote quite a long poem "Elba", it was about die Elbe, the river, but also "Elba" is the name of an island on the Mediterranean sea. by the way, Elba in Polish is Łaba, and Vistula is Wisła. as far as I know, in other slavic languages the names are similar, although sometimes names of rivers in Europe in many languages are taken from Latin, or other old languages, like Gothic.

I don't know if it makes any sense :)
